Amazon Moms -- Diapers & Coupons

I have had several friends (including my husband) ask me two questions… (1) why are you having diapers delivered to your home via either UPS or Fedex? And (2) why are you getting so many Parenting or Fit Pregnancy magazines (especially as I can’t get pregnant)?  Well the reason is this… Amazon routinely has a tear out coupon in the magazines devoted to pregnancy, parenting, or babies.  A lot of these magazines can be found routinely for less than $5 a year subscriptions or even FREE.  So what is the advantage of a coupon some may say?  Well when the coupon is for 20% off or $10 off then it is a good deal. The only disadvantage is that you can only use one 20% off coupon per month per account.  But if you buy more than one quantity of diapers at the same time, then you can use the 20% for the whole purchase.  ((Please note… I have NOT tried this on buying different type of diapers or in buying diapers and wipes at the same time… I have only done it buying multiple quantities and I know that the 20% was taken off on all quantities))

And the great thing is you can combine the coupons with the Amazon Mom discount… really great deals.  Now one thing to remember is that the prices on Amazon change regularly so if you see a deal then you might want to take advantage of it cause it may not be there next time you look.

Why am I so excited about this… let me tell you about the deal I did today.  My son, Cole, is beginning potty training so I went looking for pull-ups. I found the Huggies pull-ups for boys on sale…

List Price: $29.99

Price: $19.97 (.34 ₵/ Count)

You Save: $10.02 (33%)

That is a 58 count so the per unit price is 34₵.  Looks pretty good.

Then I used my Amazon Mom program and Subscribe & Save and the price dropped to $13.98  (a total savings of $16.01 or 53% off) which took another $5.99 off of the price.  This is a unit price of 24₵ per pant.

Then I used my 20% Diaper Discount coupon from one of my magazines.  This took another $3.98 off the price.  Now I am at $10.00 or 17₵ per pants.  For the example, I used only one box but I actually was ordering 3 boxes at a time to increase the discount impact.  

At this point... I used another coupon (YES!!! Amazon lets you stack the $10 off coupon with the 20% discount coupon).  My final price for 3 boxes delivered FREE to my house in 2 days was $15.97 or 9₵ per pants.   Amazon added another discount (-$3.99) that I don’t know what it is for but I’m not going to argue with their final price as it was lower than my calculated price to the $15.97 rate instead of my calculated $20 rate.

So I bought for $15.97 three boxes or $5.32 for one box  (9₵ per pants) what was originally priced at $89.97 or $29.99 a box.  This is a net savings of $74 or 82%.  I would say that is a good deal… and well worth getting the magazines (which were FREE) and signing up for the Amazon program (which is FREE).   I consider a good deal on diapers & pull ups anything below 13₵ per diaper/pants....that is my personal buying point...let me know if you have a lower buying point.

One caution… if you don’t want this delivered at the undiscounted (20% or $10 coupon) price then you need to cancel your subscription after your first delivery.  That is what I do… another thing is that if you order your diapers this way every month (I alternate diapers one month with wipes the next) then you are always earning Amazon Prime free shipping….which is 2 day free shipping.
