Knowing Christ

How to Become A Christian?  Knowing Christ.

Nothing in life is accidental… your coming to this website and this page is not by accident.  God  created the universe and everything in it, and He made us so we could have fellowship with Him.  God loves you and desires a personal relationship with you through His Son, Jesus.  However we are separated from God by sin.  There is nothing we can do that will bring us closer to God or that will bridge this separation.

There are many definitions for sin in the Bible.  But the simplest is that sin is our failure to measure up to God’s holiness and His righteous standards.  We sin by our actions, our choices, our attitudes, our thoughts, and our failure to follow God’s standards by doing the right things.  No matter how good a person tries to be, none of us does the right thing all the time.

The Bible describes sin in many ways. Most simply, sin is our failure to measure up to God’s holiness and His righteous standards. We sin by things we do, choices we make, attitudes we show, and thoughts we entertain. We also sin when we fail to do right things. The Bible affirms our own experience – “there is none righteous, not even one.” No matter how good we try to be, none of us does right things all the time.

We have a tendency to consider ourselves good people. We also tend to separate sin into two categories small sins and major sins. But God says that every person is a sinner and that any sin separates us from God.  No matter how we might classify ourselves or our sins, this includes you and me and all of our sins.  We are ALL sinners.

The Bible says:

“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.”
—Isaiah 59:2
“Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.  As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one;’”
—Romans 3:9-11
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
—Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
—Romans 6:23 (NIV)

Often people are confused about the way to God. Some think that their actions (how good they are) will determine how they will be punished or rewarded.  Others think they must make things right in their lives before they try to come to God.  Still others can’t understand how Jesus could love them when other people don’t seem to.  The good news is that God DOES LOVE YOU!  Yet our sins demand punishment- the punishment of death and separation from God.  But, because of God’s Great Love, He sent His only son, Jesus, to die for our sins.  {"God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 }

We cannot approach God while in a sin state.  As sin is an abomination to God.  So how do we get rid of our sin problem?  Not by our own strength can any of us do this.  Nothing you can do can make yourself right with God by becoming a better person.  ONLY God can deliver you from your sins.  He is willing to do this not because of anything you can do for Him, but just because He love you.  Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave.  He paid the penalty for our sins and bridged the gap between God and people.  It's God's grace that allows you to come to Him - not your efforts to "clean up your life" or work your way to Heaven. You can't earn it. It's a free gift.

The Bible says:

"Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me."
—John 14:6
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
—Romans 5:8
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord”
--Romans 6:23
"Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, ... he was buried, ... he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."
—1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done but because of His mercy.”
-- Titus 3:5
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”
--Ephesians 2:8-9

In order to bridge the gap between you and God, the penalty for your sin must be paid.  God gave us the gift of His Son, Jesus, who paid the debt for you and me when He died on the Cross.  He was a willing sacrifice to God to pay for the penalty of our sins.  When we realize how deeply our sin grieves the heart of God and how desperately we need a Savior, we are ready to receive God’s offer of salvation.  To admit we are sinners means that we turn away from our sin and selfishness and turn to follow Jesus.  This is called “repentance” in the Bible—to change our thinking about how grievous sin is so our thinking is in line with God’s.

When you repent of your sins all that is left is for you to accept the gift that Jesus is offering you right now.  God says that if you believe in His son, Jesus, you can live forever with Him in glory.
We must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

The Bible says:

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”
—Revelation 3:20
"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
--Romans 10:9-10
"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."
—John 1:12
"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
--John 3:16

So how do you do this… it is very simple. You Can Know Jesus Today
  • Admit your need for Jesus through repentance and turning from your sin.
  • Trust and believe that Jesus died for you on the cross and rose from the grave and will return one day to take his people to heaven and send
Are you ready to accept the gift of eternal life that Jesus is offering you right now? Let's review what this commitment involves:

I acknowledge I am a sinner in need of a Savior - this is to repent or turn away from sin
I believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead - this is to trust that Jesus paid the full penalty for my sins
I confess Jesus as my Lord and my God - this is to surrender control of my life to Jesus
I receive Jesus as my Savior forever - this is to accept that God has done for me and in me what He promised

If it is your sincere desire to receive Jesus into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior, then talk to God from your heart:
